About the video idea

We still have not made the decison on the final video idea until discussing with Toula in class on Monday. The main reason is that we could just think about the beginning of the story but we could not continue the story. So we came up with several ideas but none of them has complete storyline.

Now here comes the video idea:
This story is a dramatic soap about conversation between two overseas students. One of them tries to seek simple ways to eat healthily.

First major plot point of the story is two overseas students meet at Insearch campus. They are fairly surprised by mutual changes on appearance. One of them looks amazing while the other one looks dispirited.

The second major plot of the story is they recall the totally different life time in the past days, especially the eating. One student lives in an energetic way because he takes in fruit and vegetables appropriately. On the contrary, the other one always struggles with his school affairs and spirit mainly because he ignores the importance of health and eats food randomly.

Third major plot point is the healthy eating student assist the unhealthy eating student to solve his eating problem by showing him the simple and useful way called “2 fruit and 5 vegetables”.

And the resolution is the unhealthy eating student gains the knowledge and carries out it from that day.

About the style

Generally speaking, our group agreed to deal with the style/format of our video as the drama rather than documentary. The main reason is that we've been thinking the video would be interesting as well as dramatic in order to catch more viewers' eyes. To some extent, we would like to make the video uncommon. After presenting the initial idea, we realized that we still have lots of problems about our video need to be solved. For example, we haven't get a quite clear idea about how we would present our topic "healthy eating" into video. Therefore, we had several times group meeting about discussing the style/format of our video. We came up with an idea eventually.

However, we had to change some of the content of our idea after checking by Michael Whittle. He pointed out that it would be much better if we make the video as the soap. Because our initial idea was planning in the dream, and Michael noted that it would bot be appropriate if everything happened in people's imagination (From this point, we agreed that there's big thought difference attributes to cultural backgrounds). And he suggested that we could overdo the plot.

We expected to make the video style still as the drama, but it would be more dramatic. The specific content of video will be discussed during the group meeting in this weekend. I wish our group could figure out a wonderful idea!

Brief introduction about the video

The major project of this subject is video shooting. It will be used for the subject taught by Julia Kalytis as a part of our future campaign and as one of the media products for the class taken by Michael Whittle. Working as a team, Maggie (Liu Man), Lary (Lu Tianyi) and I (Zhou Ya) made commitment that we will strive to accomplish the media product and prepare campaign well in order to send the strong message to our target audience.

The purpose
According to our survey questionnaire, 20 out of 30 Insearch overseas students do not think they have healthy eating habits. Therefore, we undertake the campaign aims to persuade overseas students to change to healthier eating habits, whilst at the same time, spending less time than before. The campaign will involve a proactive and unifying positive message rather than simply scaring the target audiences about the serious effects that bad eating may have on them.

Target audience
The awareness campaign called “healthy eating” is targeted at Insearch overseas students who have a presumed educational and knowledge level. However, it is fairly important that tertiary students outside Insearch find this video appealing and understand the strong sense of eating healthily.

How will it be screened and distributed
The project will be screened on our campaign website and other popular video-sharing sites, such as Youtube and Facebook. The video will be posted on the Radio Insearch Blog site. It can be distributed during the orientation week for new overseas students. The video will be displayed in group members’ own spaces as well.
